A Special Place

Hengistbury Head is a beautiful headland about 1 mile from where I live in Bournemouth. To the north of the Head is Christchurch Harbour, when the Rivers Avon and Stour meet before reaching the sea. To the south is the sea, correctly known as Poole Bay leading out to the English Channel. Hengistbury Head is a site of special scientific interest being a place where ancient peoples lived.

It is special to me as it was a place much treasured by Joan, my late wife, and it is in her honour that I visit the location where her ashes were spread in 2010. Join me on my walk.
